Sanz School's ESL program dates back to the school's first years and is designed to meet the needs of individuals with limited or no English skills. The course provides intensive practice of the four components of language - speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Teachers use textbooks, workbooks, group activities and other tools and techniques in this full-time course to help build confidence. We emphasize using and understanding contemporary American English in order to bring the students' proficiency to the level necessary to enter the job market and to expand their life skills. In addition to the basic four components of language, instructors also address American culture, ranging from customs and holidays and beyond to navigating everyday issues (shopping, dealing with banks, the basics of paychecks ["1040", "W-2"] etc). Sanz School's ESL course also works to build students' job-hunting skills, emphasizing how to write résumés, cover letters and thank you letters, as well as "do's and don'ts" of job interviewing. Students' progress is measured by their ability to use language in meaningful, real-life situations. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates receive a diploma.
